EDJX To Present on Key Panels, Discuss Smart Cities at Pacific Telecommunications Council Conference 2022

EDJX will be joined by industry leaders from Verizon Ventures, IDC, 3Red8, Shanghai University, Schneider Electric, and EdgePresence to discuss smart cities.

January 12, 2022 – EDJX, the pioneer in distributed cloud services at the Edge, today announced that it will be joined by distinguished panelists from top-tier companies and universities to present on two key industry panels at this year’s Pacific Telecommunications Council 2022 conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.

EDJX CEO and Co-founder John Cowan will speak on the mainstage panel Do Sustainable, Smart Cities REALLY Need Edge? scheduled for Tuesday, January 18, 10:30-11:00 HST. Cowan will be joined by esteemed panelists Kristina Serafim, Managing Director at Verizon Ventures; Ghassan Abdo, Vice President Research, Worldwide Telecommunications; IDC, Yang Yang, IEEE Fellow, Director & Professor, SHIFT, School of Information Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University. Joe Weinman, IT industry leader and author of Cloudonomics, will be moderating. Topics that will be covered on the panel include smart cities, Edge and 5G applications; the controversy between cloud computing architectures; whether there is a real need for Edge; cloud and edge growth rates; data center size and location; network transport infrastructure and intelligence; interconnection bandwidth architecture and growth. The panel will occur in person at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Tapa Tower, Tapa 2 & 3, or register online to attend.

EDJX CMO Laura Roman, Ph.D. will be chairing the panel Cloud at the Edge, with industry leaders Mark Adams, Chief Development Officer, 3Red8; Raul Martynek, CEO, DataBank; Doug Recker, President and Founder, EdgePresence; Joseph Reele, VP, Solution Architects, Schneider Electric. Topics to be covered include where does the cloud end and Edge begin? Are they alternatives or complements, and what is going on with real-world deployments, incorporating IoT, 5G, AI, and smart cities?

The autonomous age is edge computing. EDJX has solved the challenges and complexities of low latency, high-performance edge apps at planet scale by delivering multi-tenant cloud services at the far edge of any network, where and when the developer ecosystem needs them. This new capability will power the next wave of applications such as predictive analytics, autonomous machines, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence. Critical digital infrastructure needed to enable autonomy, autonomous vehicles, the future of smart cities, and connected things holds short and long-term implications for adopting autonomous driving pilot projects. These topics will be woven through the discussions on both panels.
The Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) conference is in its twenty-second year and will reconnect with members of the information and communication technologies (ICT) industry in Honolulu at PTC ’22, hinged on the theme Reunite. Rethink. Renew. PTC is a global non-profit membership organization promoting the advancement of ICT in the Pacific Rim, the most dynamic geography of the world, spanning over 40 nations. PTC’s annual conference is a strategic springboard for the global communications industry, providing all attendees with a four-day platform to focus on planning, networking, and discovering what lies ahead for the industry. Register online to attend this year’s conference and follow EDJX on social media for key conference takeaways.
